Kansas City’s spring sports scene is in full swing, with several local teams giving fans plenty to follow as the weather warms.

The Kansas City Current continue to be one of the hottest tickets in town. On Saturday, May 3, the Current played a high-energy match versus the North Carolina Courage that showcased their attacking depth, adding to a strong early-season run. They took that match 2-1. Through the first several weeks of the 2026 National Women’s Soccer League season, Kansas City sits in the upper half of the standings with multiple wins and one of the league’s top-scoring offenses, averaging over 2 goals per match. Fans won’t have to wait long to catch them at home again—their next match at CPKC Stadium is scheduled for Friday May 15 at 7:00 pm. Another sellout crowd is likely at the riverfront venue.

Hockey fans should keep an eye on the Kansas City Mavericks, who officially opened their postseason on Friday, April 25, in the Kelly Cup Playoffs. After finishing the regular season with more than 40 wins and one of the best records in the Western Conference, expectations are high for a deep run. Stay tuned to learn more about how you can purchase post-season match tickets.

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Comets have wrapped up their 2025–26 season in the Major Arena Soccer League. The team finished above .500 and remained one of the league’s highest-scoring squads, averaging more than 6 goals per game. While they fell short of a championship appearance, the Comets continue to stay active in the community through offseason clinics, youth programs, and appearances across Kansas City.

Baseball returns next week with the Kansas City Monarchs set to open their 2026 season on Friday, May 15, at Legends Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., kicking off the American Association of Professional Baseball season. Opening Day will feature pregame ceremonies honoring the Monarchs’ legacy, along with giveaways and postgame fireworks, continuing a tradition that blends history with family-friendly entertainment.
With soccer, hockey, indoor soccer, and baseball all in the mix, Kansas City sports fans have no shortage of hometown teams to support in the weeks ahead.
