KANSAS CITY, Missouri — The Northeast is losing an electronic store.

RadioShack has released its list of expected store closings and the Independence Avenue location was on the list. According to Forbes.com, the company filed for bankruptcy protection on Thursday, Feb. 5.

The retailer also announced a deal to sell between 1,500 and 2,400 stores to Standard General and Sprint restructuring. The transaction is expected to be finalized in the coming months and is subject to approval by a Delaware bankruptcy court and to a closing period.

RadioShack was founded 94 years ago in Texas.

There is currently no timetable for the closing of the 4015 Independence Ave. location, but according to an article on BusinessInsider.com, the company plans to close at least 1,784 stores by March 31.
