Homeowners living in Kansas City’s “first suburb” will decorate their homes for the holidays and open their doors wide during the 16th Annual Holiday Homes Tour on Saturday, December 6.
From 12 to 5 p.m., ticket holders have a chance to tour five distinctive homes more than a century old – two Queen Anne Victorians, a limestone castle, and a turn-of-the century combination of brick duplexes connected by a breezeway, on tour for the first time.

This year’s ornament scavenger hunt will have visitors searching if they can locate “Where’s Waldo” hidden in each home. Tour booklets with a tally of all five stamps – one for each home – can receive a special treat.
Sponsored by the Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Association, this annual fundraiser supports community green spaces such as the PH community garden, orchard and pocket park.
“We hope people spend the afternoon in Pendleton Heights, get a feel for our friendly vibe and visit one of our two coffee shops or the pizza restaurant,” association vice-president Christy Maddux said. “We will have a fun photo op near the ticket booth, and depending on the weather, there may be a few tables with items from a local artist.”
Advance tickets are available at phkc.org for $25 or at the ticket booth (2205 Lexington Avenue) for $30 on December 6.
