
BREAKING — Just after 10 p.m., on Thursday evening, June 19, Kansas City Police Department’s (KCPD) Accident Investigation Section (AIS) dispatched to meet East Patrol Division (EPD) officers at the intersection of Independence and Brighton Avenues on a pedestrian-involved, critical injury collision.
Upon arrival, officers conducted an initial investigation, which revealed a red, Chevrolet Blazer that was moving westbound on Independence Avenue, collided with a pedestrian — who was standing or walking along a double yellow line in the middle of Independence Avenue, according to a release from KCPD Media Unit, Friday morning. The pedestrian was knocked to the ground on impact and transported to a nearby hospital with critical injuries.
The Chevrolet Blazer stopped immediately and remained uninjured in the incident. The pedestrian is currently in stable condition, according to a release from KCPD Media Unit, Friday morning.
This investigation remains ongoing at this time.
