For Nic’ Sarro, the Northeast isn’t just a service area; it is the neighborhood that shaped him. As the owner of Next Level Waste Group LLC, Sarro is turning a lifelong work ethic and a deep love for his community into a business that prioritizes people over junk.
Sarro’s connection to the Northeast runs deep. Raised on Park Avenue in Pendleton Heights, he attended local schools including Garfield, Scuola Vita Nuova, and St. Stephens. His commitment to the area was evident early on earning his Eagle Scout rank with Troop 80, where he spent years assisting with groundskeeping at St. Anthony’s.
His entrepreneurial spirit was forged even earlier. At just six years old, Sarro began working at his father’s business, Frank’s Blacksmith Shop, located on Independence Avenue. By age 12, he was working at Anthony’s Restaurant, fueled by a genuine enjoyment for labor and staying busy.
This foundation eventually led him to a tenure with the Kansas City Fire Department before he transitioned into the world of business ownership.
While Sarro began testing the waters of waste hauling in 2017 alongside his contracting company, he officially launched Next Level Waste Group LLC on August 13, 2025. The decision to go “all in” was sparked by a gap he saw in the industry: a lack of empathy.
“Most companies would just come in, charge you an arm and a leg, and have no sentimental value to the customer,” Sarro noted. “We are a reasonable waste management company where we take pride in taking people’s junk and trying to repurpose it.”
Next Level Waste aims to limit landfill contributions by donating, recycling, or reselling items whenever possible. Their services include:
-Full-service junk removal (no heavy lifting required by the customer)
-Roll-off dumpster
-Driveway-safe dump trailers
-Residential and commercial demolition
As a new member of the Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, Sarro views his business as a way to protect his “well-kept gem” of a neighborhood from over-priced corporate competitors. While the company services a 100-mile radius from its Northeast office on East 10th Street, Sarro’s heart remains focused on local relationships.
Looking ahead, Sarro plans to expand his fleet and staff, with a specific goal of organizing a community clean-up day in the Northeast. His mission remains simple: to keep the big companies out and ensure small, local businesses continue to serve the heart of Kansas City.
