With food and family activities, members of the Lykins Neighborhood Association welcomed residents, family and friends to its Taco Day event on Sunday, July 27 at Lykins Square Park (4115 E. Seventh St.)

One popular topic during this gathering was positive changes that have occurred in Lykins Square Park in recent years, with the installation of new playground equipment, a shelter house, soccer goals and a community art installation — Neighbors Helping Neighbors — which showcases 600 handprint tiles.

Despite the late afternoon heat and humidity, this event was well attended. Angie Curtis, bilingual service coordinator for the Lykins Neighborhood Association said, “This gathering is part of our ongoing effort to connect residents and strengthen our community.”
