Kansas City Public Schools is pausing the Blueprint 2030 discussion, which initially included closing three schools in Northeast Kansas City, until after the holidays.

While the KCPS Board of Directors had planned to vote on the recommendations from MGT Consulting at the December 14 board meeting, a KCPS spokesperson said that is no longer the plan.

On Monday, KCPS shared an updated timeline with district families and staff.

“Over the last couple of months, you have given generously of your time and provided helpful feedback on Blueprint 2030, our academic vision for the future of KCPS,” the update read. “We have heard you, we have listened to you, and we are working on revised Blueprint 2030 recommendations to present to the KCPS Board of Directors in January. As a result, the Administration will not bring the revised recommendations at this week’s meeting.”

KCPS plans to share the Blueprint 2030 revised recommendations after winter break at the Jan. 11, 2023, board meeting.

“These recommendations will be based on the invaluable feedback you have already provided and will include our plan for ongoing dialogue with students, families, staff and the community,” the update read. “Thank you for being a partner in this process, and thank you for choosing KCPS.”

This week, the search firm tasked with finding a new superintendent, JG Consulting, is hosting community input meetings with the board. Information about the search can be found on the Superintendent Search website.
