The Kansas City Comets are gearing up for another exciting season in the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL), with the 2025-26 campaign set to begin this fall. Fans can look forward to a thrilling 24-game regular season, which includes 12 home games at the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena in Independence, Missouri. The full schedule is expected to be released soon following the MASL’s fall meetings, so fans can stay tuned for more details.
Founded in 2010 as the Missouri Comets, the franchise plays in the same complex as the Kansas City Mavericks hockey team. The Comets, named in honor of the city’s popular indoor soccer team from the 1980s and early 1990s, rebranded in 2016 to their current name. Over the years, the Comets have built a rich legacy with numerous accomplishments, including a 2013-14 MISL championship, an undefeated 20-0 regular season in their first MASL year (2014-15), and Central Division titles in 2016 and 2017.
One of the franchise’s recent highlights came in 2020, when the Comets hosted the first-ever MASL All-Star Game and claimed the inaugural Central Cup. The team also made history in 2022 when Kansas City native Jenna Winebrenner became the first woman in league history to serve as an assistant coach.
The 2025-26 season will once again see the Comets face off against divisional rivals, including the St. Louis Ambush, as well as exciting matchups with teams from the Eastern Conference, such as the Baltimore Blast and Milwaukee Wave. The road to the Ron Newman Cup playoffs will begin in March 2026, and fans can expect some intense action throughout the season.
The Comets’ 2025 home opener will take place on Saturday, Nov. 29, at 6:05 p.m. against the St. Louis Ambush at the Cable Dahmer Arena. It’s expected to be a high-energy match as the team kicks off the new season in front of its home crowd. Fans are encouraged to get their tickets early via Ticketmaster or the Comets’ official website, kccomets.com, to be part of the action.
The Kansas City Comets are ready to bring the heat this season, and with plenty of rivalries and thrilling matchups on the horizon, it’s sure to be an exciting ride for both the team and the fans. Don’t miss out—mark your calendars and get ready to cheer on the Comets as they kick off another chapter in their storied history!
