BREAKING — In a press release on Tuesday morning, June 10, Jackson County Prosector Melesa Johnson announced charges faced for a Kansas City man who was involved in a homicide on March 26 within a convenience store parking lot near St. John and Monroe Avenues.
Damarion Nichols is facing one count of 2nd Degree Murder and one count of Armed Criminal Action, according to a release from the Jackson County Prosectors office, Tuesday. If convicted, Nichols could serve a 30 year prison sentence. He is currently being held without bond.
After dispatching to 3700 block of St. John Ave., on a reported shooting call, Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) officers located an adult male in a convenience store parking lot near St. John and Monroe Avenues, who was suffering gunshot wounds. While KCPD performed on-scene medical assistance, Emergency Medical Personnel (EMS) was requested. Upon arrival, EMS pronounced the victim deceased. The victim was later identified as Tracy Williams; He was 21 years old.
The investigation has revealed that on March 26, the victim entered the convenience store as a black, Ford Fiesta arrived in the parking lot. As the victim exited the store, the defendant stared at the victim until he passed him. Then, the defendant pulled a firearm with an extended magazine from his left side and fired at the victim. He continued to shoot the victim even after the victim fell between two vehicles. The defendant went back to his vehicle and fled the scene, according to a release from the Jackson County Prosecutor’s office, Tuesday.
