Al Rahman Mediterranean Market — located at 2536 Independence Ave. – is just one business that makes up the Prospect Center. Located previously along Lexington Avenue within the Pendleton Heights neighborhood, Al Rahman moved to it’s current location in Prospect Center in August, 2015, according to Northeast News archives. Al Rahman Mediterranean Market is the first location featured in the our “just around the corner” series, where the Northeast News will feature Independence Avenue Community Improvement District (CID) businesses, which offer every day items for the Northeast Community right on the Avenue. 

Since November 2020, Nur Ali and his wife have owned Al Rahman Mediterranean Market — offering a myriad of products and goods to Independence Avenue and the Historic Northeast community including, but not limited to, middle eastern clothing and food imports, spices, fragrances, rugs and camel milk. Previously, Ali shared with Northeast News that his favorite aspect of owning a business and working in the Historic Northeast is “the friendly environment and the people who are always willing to help each other.”
