BREAKING — Just after 4 p.m. this afternoon, Aug. 23, Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) officers dispatched to the 1700 block of E. 12th Terrace on a reported shots fired call for service.
As officers were on their way to the scene this incident was updated to a shooting that may have additionally involved stabbing of the victim, according to a release from KCPD Media Unit, Saturday evening.
Upon arrival, officers entered an apartment building and found an adult male with unknown bodily trauma. The Kansas City Fire Department (KCFD) and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were requested to the scene, where they pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. KCPD has identified the victim as Victor Austin (39).
Officers located two additional victims on the scene — one adult male with gun shot wounds and one juvenile male with unknown head trauma. Both victims were transported to a nearby hospital with non life threatening injuries, according to a release from KCPD Media Unit, Saturday.
A female victim was also involved in this incident. KCPD discovered that she was brought to a local hospital with a stab wound by a personal vehicle. She is currently in serious condition.
This incident is currently under homicide investigation. Officers have not taken anyone into custody at this time. While detectives are working to figure out what led up to this incident, an initial investigation revealed a potential altercation between several individuals.
Detectives and investigators are currently canvassing the scene for witnesses and evidence.
