Hardee’s at 6323 Independence Ave., is one of the many franchise locations within the Carl Karcher Enterprises (CKE) restaurant system. 

The corporation was founded in 1960 and has gone on to open over 1,800 restaurants across the U.S. — including this one on Independence Avenue — and 13 different countries, according to its website.

This Avenue location has continued to serve the Historic Northeast Community and beyond for over five decades. While General Manager Michele Hannah shared she has worked for various Hardee’s locations for the past four years — including restaurants in Independence, Liberty and Lee’s Summit — she has been in the Northeast for a little over two years. 

Her favorite aspect of working in the community, she shared, is the spontaneity of the neighborhood. 

“There’s never a dull moment,” Hannah said in an interview. “There’s good and bad, they’ve remodeled a house next door and repaved roads; I don’t live in the area, but the people are nice.” 

She said one aspect to this Hardee’s location she has not experienced at other Kansas City-area franchises is a full staff.

“A lot of people want a job out here,” Hannah said in an interview. “It’s pretty cool, there’s a lot of people out here, when someone leaves, I have no problem filling [their] shoes.”

This Avenue location, she shared, is additionally anticipating a remodel. While Hannah said the franchise is unsure if this remodel will include the inside of the restaurant as well as its exterior, she said they believe the process will occur in about four to six months. 

Current menu and special items for this Hardee’s include its original bag — which is two sandwiches for $6.99 — two for $5 biscuits and gravy and two for $4 cinnamon rolls. The restaurant additionally has two new menu items — a smoked sausage egg and cheese sandwich and a pulled pork sandwich — which Hannah said are both selling like crazy.

While supplies last, she said this location is also including Hardee’s coupons within customer’s to-go bags. 

This Hardee’s location is open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday and from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday.
