BREAKING — Just after 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, July 20, Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) officers responded to a convenience store at the intersection of Truman Road and Brooklyn Avenue on a reported shooting call.
Once on the scene, officers located two adult males, unresponsive, with gunshot trauma and began performing life saving measures. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were ordered to the scene, who pronounced both victims deceased upon scene arrival, according to a release from KCPD Media unit, Sunday. On Monday afternoon, KCPD identified the adult male victims as Taylor D. Garrett (32) and Byron A. Garrett (35).
Homicide detectives and investigators are currently collecting evidence and witness statements, however, officers are unsure of the events that led up to gunfire at this time. An adult male subject was taken into custody from the scene for further investigation. KCPD does not have any other subjects of interest at this time, according to a release from KCPD Media Unit, Sunday.
This incident is being investigated as a homicide and remains ongoing.
