Fresh Market opens today

The new Fresh Market, or Mercado Fresco, located in the old Snyder’s Supermarket space at 2620 Independence Blvd opens today.

Snyder’s closed for the last time on December 31, 2021 after an almost 50 year run in the old Kroger building built in 1958.

The new Fresh Market, owned by local businessman Eddie Musallet, opens today and will offer a wide variety of international grocery items and a large fresh produce section. The upgraded meat and seafood case measures over 50 feet in length and holds over 80 different fresh items including snow crab legs, deli meats and cheeses, fresh poultry, pork and beef.

Store Manager Omar Saber is excited about being a part of the Historic Northeast business landscape and looks forward to meeting his customers personally.

“I’m super happy to be a part of the ongoing change along Independence Avenue,” Saber said while ironing out some last minute opening details Wednesday morning. “We’re looking forward to serving the Northeast Community.”

Omar said if customers don’t see an item they want carried, they should tell a store staffer and they’ll do their best to get that item in stock.

The new store will be open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
