Faces Of Northeast: Lisa Pugh

Day or night, Christmas cheer fills the yard at the home of John Burke and Lisa Pugh. For the past 12 years, the couple, along with their two children, have assembled an eye-catching display for the holidays.

John is a life-long resident of Northeast, and attended Northeast High School; his family has lived in the neighborhood for generations. Before moving to the neighborhood herself, Lisa was familiar with the area as her mother also graduated from Northeast High.

Lisa and John are the owners of a local business, Shrunkin Head Tattoo, where he is a tattoo artist and she specializes in body piercing, just a few blocks from their home.

In addition to Christmas decor, the family goes all out for Halloween as well. “We get about 500 trick-or-treaters every year, it’s just crazy,” said Lisa.

Last year’s decorations garnered them with the first place award in the Indian Mound Neighborhood Association’s Christmas decorating contest. This year, the yard features all new decorations, as some were damaged by vandals and had to be replaced.

Lisa would love it if more homes on the block were decorated. “We’re just trying to get people into the Christmas spirit, especially this year,” Lisa said.
