BREAKING — At 12:30 p.m., this afternoon, May 12, Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) officers responded to the 1600 block of Topping Ave., within the Blue Valley neighborhood on a reported shooting call.
Once on the scene, officers discovered an unresponsive adult female in an alleyway near a residence, who was suffering gunshot injuries. KCPD requested Emergency Medical Services as officers performed on-scene, life saving measures. EMS transported the victim to a nearby hospital with life threatening injuries, according to a release from KCPD Media Unit, Monday.
The individual was pronounced deceased at the hospital. KCPD has identified the victim as Carrisa Perryman; She was 29 years old.
KCPD took an adult female suspect into custody following the incident for questioning.
A preliminary investigation has reveled that the victim and potential suspect had an escalated interaction near the dispatch location, which led to gunfire, Monday afternoon, according to a release from KCPD Media Unit.
Detectives and investigators are currently canvassing the scene to obtain further information on the incident.
