Child injured in Northeast drive-by shooting

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – A child was struck by gunfire last night while inside of a residence on the 400 block of Denver in the Historic Northeast.

Police were called to area on reports of shots fired, and officers who arrived at the scene observed a child injured inside of a residence, suffering from a through-and-through injury on his lower body. The child was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses at the scene told officers that the child was inside of the residence with family when the gunfire rang out. No one else was injured in the shooting, and police are still searching for an unidentified suspect.

Police urge anyone with information related to the shooting to call the TIPS hotline 816-474-TIPS (8477).
