BREAKING-The Kansas City Fire Department (KCFD) responded to a reported building collapse at 4835 Independence AVE. just before 12:30 p.m., according to a media release from KCFD. On arrival, companies reported a partial collapse of a bowstring truss roof. The collapse fell into the interior of this structure, causing several walls to bow outward and become compromised.

The owner and tenant of the building are on scene and working with Dangerous Buildings and City Planning to develop a plan for securing the structure.
