Angela ( Angie) Stryker passed away on Monday, July 21, 2025. Angie was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on October 13, 1971. She spent most of her life in Historic Northeast.
Angie had been a part of Cherith Brook Catholic Worker since 2013; she was a regular at showers and Thursday night dinners. She was also involved in Stand Up KC and the Poor People’s Campaign. Angie was a regular—and often loud—voice at protests.
Angie was a regular volunteer and loved supporting her community. Angie didn’t pretend to be anyone other than exactly who she was, and she welcomed others with that same honesty. Angie also loved a good joke and was quick with a smile. She brought our community so much joy, in a community where grief and struggle are never far away, Angie was a reminder that love is possible and everyone can find a place of belonging. She is survived by her three sisters and her son, Joey. A celebration of life for Angie was held at Eleos Coffee House (3401 Independence Ave.) on Tuesday, August 2.
Arrangements: Cremation, Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home, 1823 N. Blue Mills Rd. Independence, Mo.
