Community crime meetings
Community members are continuing to meet every Wednesday at noon at the North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd. The group brings neighborhood safety concerns together and forwards them to the police department. All are welcome.

Teen Hip Hop Academy
Every Wednesday beginning at 4:40 p.m., Jeremy and his crew from Hip Hop Academy host this free event at the North-East Public Library, teaching creativity to youth through the positive elements of Hip Hop culture. Keyhole presents “Unsolved Problems”
The Keyhole, 1903 Wyandotte, will feature Northeast author J.W. Helkenberg in its Unsolved Problems presentation from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Helkenberg’s “The Theory of Quantum Relativity” is currently in the top 10 in both the U.S. and U.K. All of Helkenberg’s works are available on Amazon. The presentation will also feature works by other artists, scientists and mathematicians.

KCMSD Repurposing meeting
The Kansas City Missouri School District (KCMSD) will hold a district-wide information session regarding the repurposing of shuttered school buildings. The session will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Center, 3700 Blue Pkwy. Spanish translation will be available.

KCMSD Public Budget Presentation
The Kansas City Missouri School District (KCMSD) invites the community to attend its series of pubic budget presentations in April. The first meeting will be held Thursday, April 7, at 6 p.m. at Gladstone Elementary, 335 N. Elmwood. The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. April 13 at 1211 McGee St.

Mike Elder’s “Icing on the Cake” for Newhouse
Newhouse and Kansas City’s own Mike Elder, a three-time undefeated champion of TLC’s “Ultimate Cake-Off,” will present the Icing on the Cake sugar art exhibition and live challenge from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, April 17, at the Sheraton Overland Park Hotel, 6100 College Blvd.

NEKC Chamber plans trip to Lawrence
