BREAKING — Just after 8:30 p.m., on Monday, June 9, Kansas City Police Department’s (KCPD) Accident Investigation Section (AIS) dispatched to meet KCPD East Patrol Division (EPD) officers near Gardner and Bellefontaine Avenues within the East Bottoms on a fatality collision call.
Upon preliminary investigation, officers discovered a white and black Harley Davidson Motorcycle traveling eastbound on Gardner Avenue at a high rate of speed. At the same time, a blue Peterbilt truck, tractor and trailer was making a left turn from northbound Bellefontaine Avenue onto westbound Gardner Avenue. The truck appeared to be halfway through its turn when the motorcycle crashed into the trailer, according to a release from KCPD Media Unit, Tuesday.
On collision, the motorcycle and its motorist went under the trailer and the trailer’s back tires ran over the motorcycle driver.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. This investigation remains ongoing at this time.
KCPD Media Unit shared that this incident marks Kansas City’s 31 traffic-related fatality of 2025 compared to 47 at this time in 2024.
