Charges have been filed against two 16-year-olds in connection with Tuesday’s shooting in the Northeast. The two are currently being held at the Jackson County Juvenile Detention Center.

Charges were filed against the teenage boys on Wednesday, April 30, by the office of the Juvenile Officer. Both teenagers have been charged as juveniles with one count of first-degree involuntary manslaughter, a class C felony, and one count of armed criminal action for the death of Tina Castro. The Jackson County Court has declined to release the identities of the juveniles and the hearings related to these charges will not be open to the public.

KANSAS CITY, Missouri — The Kansas City, Mo., Police Department have identified the victim from Tuesday’s shooting in the Northeast area.

Capt. Tye Grant, public information officer for the KCPD, said the victim’s name is Tina Castro, 40, of Kansas City. Castro was shot and killed near the intersection of Thompson and Oakley Avenues. Police found her body outside of a vehicle when they arrived on scene and are investigating her death as a homicide, the city’s 20th of the year.
