On Saturday afternoon about 2:30pm, Kansas City, Mo., police (KCPD) responded to the area on Chestnut under the Lexington Avenue bridge on a report of two pedestrians walking on the west side of the roadway that were struck by a Ford pickup truck traveling South on Chestnut. After striking the two pedestrians, the Ford continued southbound and was involved in a subsequent collision with another vehicle at Independence and Chestnut.

One of the pedestrians identified as a 43-year-old Kansas City male, Gerald Teppo, was declared deceased at the scene. The other pedestrian, a 41-year-old Kansas City man was transported to an area hospital and is listed in serious condition. KCPD will not release the name of the surviving victim.

The driver of the Ford, a 38-year-old Kansas City man was also transported to an area hospital and listed in stable condition. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured. This is the 25th traffic fatality of the year.

Early Sunday morning at approximately 3:40 a.m., KCPD was dispatched to the area of Winner Road and Wallace Avenues on the call of a shooting. Upon arrival officers observed an unknown female suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Officers began life saving measures but when ambulance crews arrived on the scene, the woman was declared deceased. A suspect was taken in to custody at the scene.

The victim in the Winner and Wallace shooting has been positively identified as 19-year-old Kailey Love.
