A winter wonderland will be created on 12th Street from Michigan to Brooklyn Nov. 21 as part of the Twelfth Street Heritage Development Corporation’s 18th Annual Santa’s Wonderland.

Over the past 18 years, thousands of toys and bicycles have been given to area underprivileged children and more than 17,000 children and families in the urban core have benefited from the event.

Over the years, organizers have been told this is the only opportunity for a number of youth to receive a Christmas gift.

Twelfth Street will be closed from Michigan to Brooklyn and activities will include visits with Santa, food, toy distribution, a lighting ceremony and live entertainment.

Santa’s Wonderland is scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m. at Gates Plaza and the Twelfth Street Heritage Building with a lighting ceremony and will end at approximately 8 p.m.
