Shooting on bus closes portion of Independence Avenue

Independence Avenue remains closed between Wabash Avenue and Park Avenue Monday morning after a shooting on ATA bus route 24.

Witnesses indicate that a suspect who was on foot stuck his arm in an open back window of a bus as it was stopped and discharged a firearm, injuring one individual.

That victim was transported to an area hospital and his condition is currently unknown.

Sources at the scene state that the two parties knew each other. The scene remains active and the investigation is ongoing.
