Two-thousand plastic Easter eggs will dot the landscape at The Concourse March 30 as part of a community-wide Easter egg hunt sponsored by the Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood Association.

“It took me about four hours to stuff them all,” SRNA member Deborah Richardson said.

Richardson drummed up the idea during a neighborhood brainstorming session on how to encourage more residents to become involved in the neighborhood.

“I thought, you know Easter is coming up and I remember going on Easter egg hunts when I was little and it was so much fun,” she said.

The Easter egg hunt will begin at 9 a.m. and is open to ages 10 and younger. For the older children, an egg scavenger hunt will be held. Youngsters are asked to bring their own baskets or sacks to collect the eggs.

In addition to candy, some of the eggs will include prizes like free pizza and ice cream certificates to the Dairy Barn on Independence Avenue, Easter egg baskets and more.

The Easter bunny will also make an appearance and pose for photographs. To receive a printed photograph and Easter card, cost is $7. Proceeds will go toward the cost of purchasing and installing a new playground near The Concourse.

Participants should meet at the Colonnade at The Concourse, Benton Boulevard and St. John Avenue.

“I just want everybody to have fun,” Richardson said.
