KCPD responded to a “rolling disturbance” in the Historic Northeast during the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 6.

The incident began just after 2:30 a.m., when officers observed two suspects driving separate cars who were shooting at two victims traveling in a third vehicle near the 4700 block of Independence Avenue. The victims were traveling northbound on Van Brunt Blvd., and ultimately ran into a tree at the intersection of Gladstone Blvd. and Van Brunt Blvd. After the crash, one suspect fled southbound on Lawn Avenue, while the other suspect was located by KCPD. One of the victims was transported to an area hospital with a non-life threatening injury, though KCPD reported that no injuries was inflicted as a result of the gunfire.
