Robbery Suspect arrested, held

Police on Friday morning made Independence Avenue a safer place to be after they arrested a serial robbery suspect.

William E. Johnson was taken in to custody Friday morning in the 600 block of Benton Blvd. It is believed Johnson is responsible for a string of robberies along the Avenue including armed robberies at the BP and Subway. Johnson has been charged with six counts of Armed Robbery and five counts of Armed Criminal Action. He is currently being held in the Jackson County jail on $500,000 bond.
