Daniel Francisco Vasquez – Loving son, brother, friend, Law Enforcement Officer and shining star to all who crossed paths with him was called upon to receive his crown in Heaven.

Daniel started serving the communities of Wyandotte County, Kansas and Jackson County, Missouri by working security.  Daniel served as an “Avenue Angel”, ensuring the safety of the businesses and citizens.  He was recognized for assisting Law Enforcement in the apprehension of an attempted homicide suspect.  From there, he continued working to obtain his lifelong dream to work in law enforcement and joined Kansas City, Missouri Police Department as a Detention Officer from March 2019 thru July 2020.  His passion for serving his community was stronger than ever.  Daniel then applied to become an officer with North Kansas City, Missouri Police Department.  He was hired and attended the KCPD Regional Police Academy, graduating with Class #171, on July 8th, 2021.  He faithfully served the citizens of North Kansas City until his passing on July 19th, 2022.  Daniel has received the highest honor of recognition from North Kansas City Police Department; the Medal of Valor.

Daniel is the youngest of three children, the first generation Mexican-American in the family born in Kansas City, Kansas.  As a child he enjoyed playing sports which included football, baseball, and wrestling.  Daniel played the drums for his church, as well as learning to play numerous other instruments.  In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, fiancé, and friends.  He enjoyed playing video games, cooking, trying new foods, working out, and going to rodeos.  Daniel was always smiling, joking around, and friendly to everyone, He was a loving and supportive Uncle.  He is best described as respectful, compassionate, dependable, and a protector to all that knew him.

His family, friends, co-workers, Law Enforcement Family, and the community have lost a loving and respectable community servant who will be missed beyond measure.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents on his Father’s side: Rafaela Hernandez De Vasquez, Manuel Vasquez Vasquez; grandparents on his Mother’s side: Raquel Sauceda De Nunez, Reymundo Nunez Casillas; His Aunt on his Mother’s side: Maria Luisa Nunez De Hernandez and a close family member and Army Veteran, Salvador Rangel.

Daniel leaves behind his loving family to include his Father Francisco Vasquez Hernandez, Mother Guadalupe Nunez De Vasquez, Oldest Sister Areli Vasquez Nunez, Middle Sister Eunice Zuniga, Brother- in-Law Luis A. Zuniga Matute, Nephew Luis F. Zuniga, Niece Isabella Zuniga; Daniel’s fiancé Katie Filger and her family to include: Grandfather Ronald Filger, Grandmother Wanda Filger, Father Brad Filger, Sister Linsey Filger, Uncle Danny Filger, Aunt Stacy Filger and Cousins Nick, Luke, and Ava Filger.

Officer Vasquez also leaves behind countless friends to include North Kansas City Police Department, and the Blue Family far and wide.
