A late afternoon shooting in the 300 block of North Lawn sent two men to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries Tuesday afternoon. Neighbors report hearing close to 20 shots at roughly 4 p.m.
While exact motive for the shooting is unclear, it seems to have originated over a domestic disturbance involving a woman, her ex-husband and a third party.
Kansas City Police Department (KCPD)’s Assault Squad responded to the scene, and Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians processed the scene.
Update 11 a.m. Nov. 24: According to KCPD, the victims and witnesses were in the yard when an unknown vehicle pulled up and began shooting at them. One victim was struck and one was grazed by a bullet. The suspect then fled the scene at a high rate of speed.
There were conflicting statements about what exactly occurred. One victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and the other was treated and released at the scene.
