The new ramp from Route 40 to northbound I-435 opened today, June 27.

The ramp was part of a $39 million project to improve the I-70 and I-435 exchange. Most of the funding for the project was provided through the federal stimulus, American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

The ramp was just a small portion of the project that affects the Kansas City area.  Other parts of the project included a third lane for each direction of I -70, the construction of a new George Brett Bridge, the reconfiguration of ramps at I-70 and Route 40, the addition of a collector ramp from eastbound I-70 to northbound and southbound I-435 and to Blue Ridge Cutoff, and a new ramp from southbound I-435 to Route 40.

The two-year project is now complete and the new ramp from Route 40 to northbound I-435 is now open to the public.
