The City of Kansas City, Mo., Neighborhood Advisory Council is still seeking candidates to fill several open seats on the board.

“The Neighborhood Advisory Council provides residents with a great opportunity to become directly involved with their city government and to help facilitate relationships between their neighborhoods and city staff,” said Deletta Dean, principal assistant to the director of the Neighborhoods and Housing Services Department. “I encourage residents with an interest in their community and government to apply.”

Members of the Neighborhood Advisory Council are tasked with discussing proposed city policies and programs and making recommendations to the director of the city’s Neighborhoods and Housing Services Department.

The Neighborhood Advisory Council is divided into six regions, and at full capacity, the council has two members from each region and three at-large members.  Advisory Council members are expected to attend monthly meetings, meet with groups in their regions and participate in other related events, including public hearings and forums to discuss key issues and receive input on a variety of community matters.

Interested residents must apply by Tuesday, Dec. 4.  To be eligible, candidates must prove residency, be a registered Missouri voter, not have any outstanding warrants or delinquent taxes, and not have any conflicts of interest with the work of the Neighborhood Advisory Council.
