Mayor Lucas announces appointees to economic development boards and commissions

According to a recent release, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas today announced Mayoral appointments to several economic development boards and commissions, including the Port Authority Board of Commissioners, the 18th and Vine Development Policy Committee; the Economic Development Council of Kansas City (EDCKC) Board of Directors; and the Enhanced Enterprise Zone (EEZ) Board.

“I’m proud of the well-qualified Kansas Citians nominated today, and I’m particularly proud that the majority of these appointees are women and minorities from every part of our community,” said Mayor Lucas.

“These appointees have served our neighborhoods, schools and communities for years and I am glad to have these residents looking out for Kansas City’s best interests when it comes to economic development,” continued Mayor Lucas. “They are educators and labor organizers; businesspeople and artists. All will help us change how we approach economic development in Kansas City, particularly by promoting development in areas and communities too often overlooked. I have asked my appointees to emphasize connections to public transportation, access to affordable housing and the creation of good-paying jobs in all development proposals.
