KANSAS CITY, Missouri — A Northeast area charter school remains on lock down Monday after threats made on one of the school’s social media pages.

Frontier School of Innovation, 1575 Universal Drive, was placed on lock down, Monday afternoon after a threat was made against the school earlier that morning. According to Jennifer Watson, District Public Relations Coordinator for Frontier, all students are safe and the Kansas City Police Department is still on site conducting their investigation

“We take the safety of our students very seriously,” Watson said.

All Frontier Middle School students were released on time and the school remains closed while the police complete their investigation.

Peggy Collie, a parent to a fourth grade student at Frontier, said parents were not alerted of any threats. So when Collie arrived to pick-up her son, she was surprised. Collie added her son is usually waiting outside to get picked-up.

“I had to sign him out and they called for him,” Collie said. “We [the parents] had no idea.”
