Pedestrians will no longer be walking in the dark along a section of Independence Avenue.

Ed Donegan, electrician with the city’s parks and recreation department, recently repaired three light poles along Independence Avenue in front of Central Bank.

A total of four light poles, one owned by KCP&L, were damaged in a car accident earlier this month. Donegan estimated repairs cost $6,000 total for the three light poles.

Parked beside Donegan was the city’s new, all-electric vehicle which cost $370,000. The vehicle plugs into a 100-amp panel and can travel approximately 70 miles on a single charge.
