KANSAS CITY, Missouri — The Kansas City, Mo., Police Department has identified the man who died from an accidental fall off of the US-24 bridge.

David Craven, 53, was working on a MoDOT project at Independence and Cambridge Avenues at around 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, when he fell from the bridge. Craven worked for the contractor LG Barcus out of Kansas City, Kan. Representatives for Occupational Safety and Health Administration couldn’t comment on the current investigation.

The bridge has been closed since early this year for deck replacement over the Blue River. The original completion date was scheduled for Monday, June 16, however that date has been pushed back multiple times due to the age of the bridge and the additional work that has been uncovered since the project began. There is no word on whether or not the accident would push back the completion date.
