Firefighters responded early Friday morning to the old Brogoto  building in the 600 block of Prospect. Upon arrival, fire crews requested a second and then a third alarm due to the immense size of the structure.

The fire was brought under control within the hour. Two firefighters and two apartment residents were hospitalized and released with minor injuries.

The building houses businesses on the first floor and apartments on the second floor. The fire displaced 4 people; all were assisted by the Red Cross in finding alternative lodging. In a May 2010 fire at the same building, a four-year-old girl was killed. The cause of today’s fire is still under investigation.
