A 19-year-old Kansas City man was sentenced to 15 years in prison Oct. 5 for the murder of Yuri Ives in his Northeast home.

Jackson County Judge Peggy Stevens McGraw sentenced Ali Cubba to 15 years for 2nd degree murder and 10 years for armed criminal action. Both sentences will be served concurrently.

Cubba pleaded guilty to both charges in exchange for a maximum sentence of 18 years.

Ives, 48, died from

multiple gunshot wounds and cuts on Feb. 28, 2011. According to court documents, Cubba met Ives on Craigslist and exchanged e-mails to set up a meeting at Ives’ home, 511 Gladstone Blvd. Co-defendant Zachary C. Kimbrell, who drove Cubba to Ives’ home, is scheduled for sentencing on Nov. 9.
