John Joseph Falzone (“John Vocci” and “Fuzzy”) died April 8, 2011. Visitation was held April 12 at Sebbeto Funeral Home, Kansas City. A funeral service will be held today (Wednesday) at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church followed by burial at Forest Hill Calvary Cemetery, 6901 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, Mo. Arrangements are by Sebbeto Funeral Home.

John was born to Giuseppe and Mary Falzone. His father, Giuseppe, immigrated from Sicily in the 1920s, eventually settling in Rockford, Ill., where John grew up with his brother Angelo and sister Rose. John joined the Navy in 1946 and served for two years. During his Navy tenure, he met Bridget, his future wife. They were together for 57 years before Bridget died in 2007. Together they had seven children – four boys and three girls. During the 1960s, he worked as an electrical design draftsman and in 1970, started his own business, Vocci Ravioli Co., with then-business partner Tony Locozzi. He was actively involved in the business until his health declined five years ago. John was dedicated to bringing his customers personal service and a great selection of fine Italian foods.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Bridget, brother Angelo and great-grandson baby Joey. He is survived by his sister Rose Passley; his children, Rita Svedja and husband Jerry, Tom Falzone and Julie Bukaty, Joan Falzone and husband Bill Callahan, Joe Falzone and Betty Welch, Greg Falzone and Chuck Lowry, Anette Campbell and husband John and Chris Falzone and Risa Olds; 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and extended family and friends.
