Homicide, 8th & Prospect

Monday evening, just before 9:15 pm, KCPD officers were called to the area of 8th and Prospect on a shooting call.

Upon arrival, officers located the body of an adult male in the street. The victim has since been identified as 50-year-old Desimund Star.

First responders rendered aid to the victim and he was transported by EMS to a local hospital where he later died.

Police have no suspect information at this time. Crime scene investigators processed the scene to gather all the evidence to help piece together what led up to this shooting.

This is the 17th homicide in the Northeast area since January 1.

If anyone saw or heard anything in this area tonight they are asked to call homicide detectives directly at 234-5043 or TIPS Hotline at 474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest in this case.
