KANSAS CITY, Missouri — First there was Thanksgiving, then Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Now, there’s Giving Tuesday.

Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving, started two years ago as a way to bring more attention to charities around the holidays. The national campaign is encouraging people to give either time or monetary donations to a worth cause.

Multiple Kansas City organizations, including the Mattie Rhodes Foundation, Newhouse, Bridging the Gap, and the Great Plains SPCA are participating. Because of one generous donor, the Great Plains SPCA will match all donations made in December.
