The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Missouri Charter Public School Sponsors unanimously approved a request to renew and support expansion of Frontier School System, a public charter school sponsored by the University of Missouri – Kansas City.

Frontier has two campuses in the Kansas City, Mo., school district: Frontier School of Innovation at 6700 Corporate Dr. and Frontier School of Excellence, 5605 Troost Ave.

“Providing area students with the opportunity to attend a school that provides a dynamic curriculum with highly qualified teachers geared toward college-bound education is our purpose,” Sean Isik, superintendent of Frontier School System, said. “As we celebrate the news of our recent state renewal we applaud the support given to us by the community, parents, teachers and students during the renewal process.”

The Frontier School of Innovation’s northeast location currently hosts grade K-9. This fall, the school will add a 10th grade to the school. Isik said the goal is to eventually host grades K-8 at the 6700 Corporate Drive location while ninth and 10th grade are held at another location.

Frontier School System’s mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment by utilizing programs, strategies as well as math, science and technology tools to promote academic excellence, lifelong learning, and strong character development. Charter schools in Missouri are independent, public schools operating under an independent board of directors. The schools do not charge tuition fees and are open to all students within the district.
