Today in honor of Earth Day and Arbor Day, Cherry-bark Oak seedlings will be given away at the recycling drop-off centers in three locations in the city of Kansas City Missouri.

Recycling centers in Pleasant Valley,  South Kansas City at 5200 Red Bridge Road and at the facility at Chouteau and Deramus in the East Bottoms. The trees will be given away between 10 a.m. until 2pm or when supplies run out.

“Arbor Day is the best day to plant a tree”, according to Heartland tree Alliance program coordinator Ben Carpenter. (Pictured)

The seedlings are provided by the Missouri Department of Conservation and each tree will be individually wrapped with information about the tree and planting instructions.  The Cherry Bark Oak is a fast-growing native tree to Missouri and draws wildlife, often reaching Heights of 100 feet with a spread of over forty feet.

If you have questions about the tree representatives from the Heartland tree Alliance will be on site to answer questions. Social distancing will be practiced.
