KANSAS CITY, Missouri — An early morning fire rousted residents of an apartment building in the 3200 block of Windsor Avenue Friday morning.

Residents reported hearing glass breaking in the back hallway of the building around 5:30 am. One resident, Warren, said he ran from unit to unit, banging on doors to awaken residents.

“I thought it was someone breaking in to the building,” said Warren, a Ford employee who was awakened by the glass breaking. “I opened the door and smelled smoke and told my girlfriend get out the building is on fire.”

One resident was treated at the scene by EMS, but there were no further injuries reported. Damage was limited to a first floor apartment on the west side of the building. The cause of the fire has not been released as investigators remain on the scene.
