Faces of Northeast:  Robert Showalter

Robert Showalter has been the owner of Excel Office Supply for the past ten years. The company has been around since 1945 and is located on North Kansas Avenue, in the East Bottoms area.

Showalter was born and raised in the Northeast and attended Northeast High School.

“It’s just a real good comfortable place for us,” he said.

Showalter has been with Excel since 1972. The company does wholesale and retail office supplies.

“We just service a lot of individual businesses, as far as their products, in the Kansas City area mainly,” he said.

Sometime next year, Showalter plans on retiring from the company.

“I’ll probably still work for them for free because if I don’t have a t-ball game or something else, I’m not going to sit at home.”
