Northeast Arts KC invites the public to the 22nd CULTURES Spring Art sale this weekend at the EGG Business Incubator (2659 Independence Blvd.).

According to Rebecca Koop, treasurer of Northeast Arts KC, the show will feature five artists from the greater Kanas City area: Kevin Callahan, Rachel Rose, Sheila Rekdal, Ariel Rose and Haley Sellmeyer.

“We’re hoping some people come check us out. We’re thinking they can get some artsy Easter stuff,” Koop said. “(The show) reinforces the artists that are already living in the Northeast area and it gives other artists the opportunity to sell their stuff.”

Koop said some of the artists were previously featured, and some are new to CULTURES. They will present a diverse selection of art work in a pop-up style, like one would see at a street art fair. In the past, CULTURES has been held at various galleries who have acted as unofficial sponsors for the event. However, for the first time in 10 years the show is being sponsored by the Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce at the EGG Business Incubator.

“We would like to expand the venue but it’s hard getting the word out,” Koop said. “EGG is a new gallery so we’re really testing the waters.”

The “Artrapreneurs” are having an opportunity to present and sell their work, but EGG is also getting a chance to show how it benefits the community.

“I think we’re building some credibility as an art gallery and show space,” Koop said.

The event begins March 23 from 4-7 p.m., and continues March 24 from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. The final day is March 25 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
