We’ve all seen them – old beater pickup trucks, heavily laden with all manner of trash, refuse and debris, slowly navigating the streets of Northeast looking for a deserted area in which to jettison their trashy cargo.

Some have even followed the trucks to the nether, less populated regions of our community, hoping to catch the illegal dumpers in the act. To that end, this newshound says dumpers beware. Based on the overwhelming response to our posting of a picture of a truck known to be operated by an illegal dumping type on the Northeast News’ Facebook page, we’re launching a new feature, effective this week.

Much like our “Most Wanted” feature where we feature various ne’er-do-wells and scofflaws, we’ll also be posting pictures of vehicles driven by people who have illegally dumped in our community.  Each posting will carry the email address of a code enforcement officer that investigates illegal dumping. If you recognize any of the vehicles in the posted pictures, send an email directly to Code Enforcement Officer Alan Ashurst at Alan.Ashurst@kcmo.org  with “Northeast” in the subject line. This crafty news canine is lovin’ the digital age, especially when it enables a vigilant public to more expediently catch, prosecute and fine those who habitually trash our community.  Illegal dumpers beware, we’re watching you!
