On Friday, Dec. 3, police identified the victim as 27-year-old Justin Doza-Adams. Detectives continue to process through all the evidence in this case and are making headway identifying a person of interest.

This morning just before 10 a.m., Kansas City Police Department officers were called to a vacant lot near Independence and Potter avenues, just west of the I-435 interchange on a dead body call.

Officers located a deceased male at that location and contacted detectives.  Based on preliminary investigation, the Homicide Unit was called to the scene.  The area is heavily wooded and is the location of many transient camps.

Circumstances surrounding the death are sufficiently suspicious that it is being investigated as a homicide at this time.

Detectives are canvassing the area for any witnesses and working with the crime scene investigators to process the scene for evidence.

The detectives will also work with the medical examiners office to determine a cause of death.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have seen anything or who has any information to contact the Homicide Unit directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS.  There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest in this case.
