New concrete stairs and a rope climber are being installed at Concourse Park. The updates are a result of community outreach to determine what could be done to cut down on maintenance and enhance the equipment. After heavy use of the slides, the grass slope has become worn and muddy, prompting upkeep. The concrete stairs are currently in construction. The rope climber will also include a safety surface underneath, which requires specific weather circumstances for installation. Richard Allen, senior park manager, said the rope feature may not be completed until spring. Until then, kids can continue to play on the slide, but should take the stairs on the north end to climb back up and avoid the construction area.
