September 3, 4, 5, 6: SantaCaliGon Days at the Historic Independence Square. The annual SantaCaliGon Days Festival honors the origin of the Santa Fe, California, and Oregon trails in Independence, where brave pioneers began their westward journey in the 1800s. Runs noon to 11 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday. No admission fee.


September 6: In observance of the Labor Day holiday, KCMO administrative offices will be closed on Monday. Trash and recycling pickup will follow the holiday schedule that week. For example, if your regular collection day is Monday, then your items will be picked up on Tuesday. By Saturday, they should be back on track.

September 9: Coffee, Culture and Conversation with the Northeast KC Chamber of Commerce from 10 to 11 a.m. Take a trip around the world within our International Marketplace!


September 10: Melissa and Company will bring great country tunes to Friday in the Park at North Kansas City’s Festival Pavilion in Macken Park from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. All concerts are free and open to the public, and every event features a drawing for prizes donated by local businesses. There is plenty of parking, playgrounds, restrooms and the park is completely handicap accessible. Visit nkc.org or contact City Hall at 274-6000 for info.
